DANCE CLASSES

Little Praisers

(Ages 4-6)

Teacher: Pam Stott

Praising the LORD in dance begins with our youngest students! The LITTLE PRAISERS class is a 45-minute class designed for 4-6 year olds. Little Praisers learn to worship God with their whole bodies in a structured environment. They learn to follow the leader (teacher) in movements and in learning simple dance terms. The music we use are Scripture songs, Worship Choruses, and even some International Songs!

Ballet / Interpretive Dance  1, 2, 3, 4

Teacher: (Ballet 1, 2, 3 -- Leah Hensley)

Teacher: (Ballet 4 - Kathryn Helton)

These dance classes teach the basics of ballet in level 1 and then move on to more complex steps in levels 2, 3 & 4. The balletic style is sometimes combined with other dance styles to create "interpretive" movements, hence the class name. As in all our classes, modesty and the desire to glorify the Lord is at the heart of all instruction. Dancers are required to wear ballet shoes (leather is suggested) in these classes and hair should be in a bun.

There are four Hebrew & International dance class levels: Jr. Praisers, LEVEL 1 (BEGINNER); LEVEL 2 (INTERMEDIATE); LEVEL 3 (ADVANCED). These levels are based on the skill level, abilities, and previous experience of the individual students.
Basic International/Israeli dance steps and terminology (e.g., "Yemenite," "Tcherkessia," "Waltz Step," "Mayim," and "12-Count Step") are taught and students will learn dances to both Modern Praise & Worship songs as well as songs sung in Hebrew.

Worship Dance & Choreography

(Ages 10+)

Teacher: Kathryn Helton

This class would be for girls ages 10+  who have some ballet training and are looking to grow in the following areas:

  • Freedom of movement in a worship setting (church worship service, etc)

  • Increase of knowledge and freedom in how to create worship-centered choreography

  • How to flow in group spontaneous worship

  • Facial Expression

  • Truly grasping that whenever we dance before others-it is not about us. That no matter how many hours one has practiced, or how beautiful a costume garment is-what's inside our minds and hearts when we worship is what matters the most to God. If the goal of ministering in worship dance is to genuinely share the message of Christ, we must first begin working on the condition of our minds & hearts before we dance a single step.
